I am aware that perhaps this question in itself hints that understanding bitcoin is beyond my grasp, otherwise I would know the steps needed. Be it as it may, I have encountered a similar question whose answer seems to not be quite realistic, that is to say, basic calculus and algebra. Skimming through bitcoin-core source code, I found things such as “ElligatorSwift” implementation for secp256k1, which cites this paper for instance. The things discussed there are too lofty for me to call them basic. In summary, is there any reasonable path an interested layman could pursue to understand the math under bitcoin-core’s implementation?
