BitPay now supports payments with Uniswap (UNI)
As part of enhancements to the BitPay payment experience, BitPay now supports payments made with Uniswap (UNI). Users can now pay for goods and services through BitPay using UNI. BitPay also now supports UNI within the BitPay Wallet app, including the ability to buy, store, swap, and spend UNI tokens.
With this addition, we aim to empower the community with additional choices of both tokens and blockchains: you can spend Uniswap on both the Ethereum and Polygon networks.
Brief history of Uniswap
One of the pioneers of decentralized finance (DeFi), Uniswap is a decentralized exchange (DEX) created in 2018 by Hayden Adams.
UNI is the native token of Uniswap. UNI was launched on September 17, 2020. 1 Billion UNI tokens were distributed amongst the community, developer team, investors, and advisors. Liquidity providers on the Uniswap DEX earn a portion of the trading fees as well as UNI tokens as a reward.
