How do Bitcoin mining pools typically handle payout frequency versus thresholds?

Configuring computer to receive inbound traffic. Currently only have outbound connections , no inbound. Tried to setup based on Bitcoin.org configuration notes but cannot access my modem for configuation. Currently operatiin windows 11. Any recommendations.
