As of 25 December 2025, Bitcoin remains stuck well below the $90k mark, trading at $87,472.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded another day of net outflows and holiday trading conditions isn’t helping.
To add to the chaos, roughly $30.3Bn in BTC options are expiring, with the 8:00 am UTC Friday. Most call options are struck far above spot, with large clusters up near $100k and even $200k now staring at near-certain expiry losses.
Asia’s Strategy (MicroStrategy), aka Metaplanet, has received shareholder approval for a bold plan to acquire 210,000 Bitcoin by 2027. This target represents 1% of BTC total supply. Announced just before Christmas 2025, the plan involves five strategic proposals, inlcuding capital stock shifts to surplus accounts for dividends and buybacks.
CEO Simon Gerovich outlined phased goals. The company achieved the goal of 30,000 BTC in 2025, 100,000 by FY 2026 and 210,000 by FY2027 via “555 Million Plan” warrants worth $5.4 billion. Of course it mirrors Strategy’s approach but leverages Japanese capital markets.

Since pivoting to Bitcoin in April 2024, Metaplanet amassed holdings exponentially, from 8,888 BTC in June 2025 to over 17,000 by August, surpassing 20,000 in September, and reaching 30,823 today.

ETH Trades Below $3000: Ethereum L1 Records 1.9 Million Daily Transactions
Ethereum is trading at 37% below its all-time high of 2025. After facing resistance at $3090, ETH is now trading at $2921 on 25 December 2025. But, compared to last week, ETH is up 3.9% compared to last week. Meanwhile, Ethereum L1 has recorded 1.9 million daily transactions, hitting a new 2025 record.
“Ethereum Layer 1 (L1) hit a record 1.9 million daily transactions in 2025,” according to KuCoin report. “Dencun and proto-danksharding upgrades helped push throughput to 24,192 TPS. Transaction fees fell below $0.01, with stablecoin and DEX activity rising.”

Roughly $6 Bn in ETH options expire Friday, and despite call options outnumbering puts by more than 2.2 times, the structure still favors bears unless price can reclaim key levels fast.
