Key Takeaways
- Pump.fun introduced Hyperliquid-powered perpetual futures trading on Oct. 17, 2026.

- Pump.fun excludes U.S. and Ontario users while Hyperliquid manages trading and liquidations.
Pump.fun Brings Hyperliquid Perpetual Futures to Its Trading Platform
Pump.fun built its reputation helping traders create and speculate on Solana meme coins. Now the memecoin launchpad is moving into a different corner of cryptocurrency trading, offering leveraged perpetual futures through the perps decentralized exchange (DEX) Hyperliquid.
The expansion, detailed in updated terms published Oct. 17, 2026, introduces another potential revenue stream for Pump.fun without requiring the company to operate its own derivatives exchange.
Hyperliquid Handles the Trading While Pump.fun Collects Fees
The new interface allows users to trade perpetual futures, contracts that let traders speculate on cryptocurrency prices without owning the underlying assets or facing a fixed expiration date.
Pump.fun provides the interface, while Hyperliquid handles order matching, collateral, funding payments and liquidations. Users retain control of their wallets, and their positions remain accessible through Hyperliquid even if Pump.fun access disappears. Earlier trading data indicated support for bitcoin contracts offering up to 40x leverage and ethereum contracts reaching 25x.
Under Pump.fun’s updated fee schedule, the platform can charge up to 0.10% of an order’s value when traders open, increase or close positions. That translates into a $10 builder fee on a $10,000 trade. Moving funds through the integrated bridge carries another fee of up to 0.25%, meaning a $1,000 transfer could cost $2.50 before outside charges. Hyperliquid’s own trading fees and other third-party costs apply separately.
American and Ontario Traders Face Restrictions
Pump.fun’s updated terms prohibit U.S. users, including those in American territories, and Ontario users from accessing perpetual futures. Restrictions also cover sanctioned jurisdictions and other prohibited individuals. The platform prohibits using VPNs to evade these limitations. Leveraged trading introduces another complication. A relatively small adverse price movement can wipe out collateral, with Hyperliquid automatically liquidating positions when margin requirements are breached.
For Pump.fun, the expansion opens another fee-generating business beyond meme coins. For traders, the opportunity comes with borrowing-like exposure, multiple charges and the possibility of losing an entire position.
