Key Takeaways

  • Bitcoin ETFs collectively lost $89.90M on Monday as ARKB and FBTC outflows outweighed Blackrock IBIT buying.
  • Ether hit a five-day outflow streak as solana, zcash, and HYPE also weakened across crypto ETFs.
  • The key test is whether IBIT demand can stabilize flows as institutional risk appetite narrows.

Bitcoin ETF Selling Returns as ARKB, FBTC Lead $90M Exit

The first session of the week brought a broad retreat in exchange-traded fund (ETF) demand, and the selling reached well beyond bitcoin.

Bitcoin ETFs lost $89.90 million as withdrawals from the Ark & 21Shares and Fidelity products outweighed another sizable allocation into Blackrock’s flagship fund.

ARKB recorded an $85.21 million exit, while Fidelity’s FBTC shed $74.55 million. Blackrock’s IBIT attracted $69.85 million, meanwhile, showing that institutional appetite remained concentrated in select products even as the overall category moved lower.

Bitcoin ETF trading value reached $2.18 billion on Monday, while net assets closed at $110.77 billion.

The divergence inside the group is important. Recent bitcoin ETF demand has increasingly favored the largest vehicles, particularly IBIT, while redemptions elsewhere have become more frequent. For bitcoin’s price, that suggests institutional support remains present, though it is becoming less uniform.

Ether Selling Becomes More Persistent

Ether ETFs extended their outflow streak to five consecutive sessions with a $50.76 million withdrawal.

Blackrock’s ETHA lost $31.88 million, while Fidelity’s FETH recorded an $18.88 million exit. No meaningful inflows offset the selling. Trading activity fell to $528.09 million, and net assets closed at $17.69 billion.

The duration of the streak now matters as much as the size of Monday’s outflow. Ether attracted substantial capital through much of September, but the recent sequence points to a clear cooling in institutional positioning.

That weakness also contrasts with the stronger demand bitcoin funds have managed to sustain over the past several weeks.

Solana and Zcash Remain Under Pressure

Selling also reached further into the crypto ETF market.

Solana ETFs lost $9.25 million on Monday, with Bitwise’s BSOL accounting for $7.12 million of that total and Fidelity’s FSOL losing another $2.12 million. Net assets closed at $1.93 billion.

Zcash ETFs posted a $3.57 million outflow from Grayscale’s ZCSH. Net assets fell to $781.96 million, extending the retreat from the $1 billion level reached in late September.

HYPE ETFs also moved lower, losing $2.71 million through 21Shares’ THYP. XRP ETFs recorded no net flows on the day.

NEAR Stands Alone as Capital Narrows

NEAR supplied the session’s only positive reading. Bitwise’s NRR—which debuted last week—attracted $539,640, lifting net assets to $60.17 million. The inflow was modest, yet its significance came from the absence of buying elsewhere.

Monday’s flow pattern points to a more selective institutional market. Capital is still finding individual opportunities, but the broad-based buying seen in late September has faded.

Bitcoin retains pockets of strong demand through IBIT, while ether is facing a more persistent withdrawal cycle, as the pressure extends to smaller categories.

For now, the opening session suggests investors are entering the week with a narrower risk appetite and a greater preference for specific funds, rather than wholesale exposure to the crypto ETF market.
